Mirage in the Desert

Emirates Golf Club - Majlis was first opened in 1988 by people with deep pockets and was the first golf course constructed in the Middle East. The course has history and is a spectacle in real life as it is in the middle of the desert. There is no question why Foresight chose to tackle it for their course library. Although their simulated layout is certainly playable for the most part, it doesn't quite inspire me to believe I'm in Dubai. The simulated course is packed with trees while photos of their signature holes show more desert than trees. Curiously, there are a lot a blind tee shots because of trees. On several holes these trees obstruct tee shots with hole 18 the notable example from the back tees. Equally troubling, there was no attempt to simulate the Dubai skyline which makes for iconic backdrops on many holes in real life. Without the skyline, this could be any desert course.
